The Dorothy Canfield Fisher Award is Vermont's
children's choice award for children in grades four through eight.
Named after Vermont
author, Dorothy Canfield Fisher, this award was designed to encourage children
to read a wide variety of literature. Approximately 30 books, published
in the previous year, are carefully selected by the DCF committee.
Children vote on their favorite in mid-April and the winning author is
invited to come to Vermont
to speak and receive the award. The DCF Award was first presented in
1957.
